LP factional chairman, Abure pays private visit to Wike, stirs controversy
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, met behind closed doors with Julius Abure, the factional head of the Labour Party (LP), at his Abuja home.

This was revealed by Media aide to the FCT minister, Lere Olayinka on his verified X handle. He wrote “National Chairman of Labour Party, Julius Abure, during his visit to the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, in Abuja today”.

While the meeting’s specifics are still unclear, its timing has drawn criticism because it comes shortly after the Abure-led LP group publicly demanded that Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, quit the party due to his engagement in a new coalition headed by the ADC.

A contentious figure inside his own party, Wike is a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is presently working in a federal government run by the APC. Many PDP supporters have accused him of inflaming internal conflicts and undermining opposition unity.
