He described this initiative as a renewed dedication to promoting peacebuilding, social cohesion, and sustainable development throughout the state.

The official launch ceremony was held at the Executive Council Chambers in Government House, Jalingo, and was conducted by the Chief of Staff, Dr. Jeji Williams, who represented the governor.

The comprehensive plan sets out key responsibilities for the Bureau, including conflict mediation, coordination of peace initiatives, promotion of social harmony, and the development of early warning and response systems to prevent the escalation of disputes.

Speaking, the governor reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fostering peace, enhancing security, and promoting inclusive governance throughout Taraba State.

He also acknowledged the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation, as well as the GIZ Peace Core Project, in the development of the strategic framework.

“This plan is a blueprint for ensuring long-term stability and community engagement,” he said.

The governor urged traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organizations, and residents to actively support its implementation.

Chairman of the Bureau, Rev. Dr. Innocent Solomon, described the launch as a significant milestone in the state’s journey toward institutionalizing peace. He noted that Taraba, which has faced recurring communal and ethnic tensions, requires a structured and proactive approach to conflict resolution.

“We now have a roadmap that moves us from reactive to preventive conflict management,” Agbu Kefas said.
