Aisha Yesufu, co-convener of the now-defunct Bring Back Our Girls movement, has explained her decision to align with former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the opposition coalition—despite their previously strained relationship.

Responding to criticism on social media, Aisha Yesufu emphasized that nation-building is not a “romantic affair”, and personal differences must be set aside for the greater good.
Aisha Yesufu added that El-Rufai brings a level of “nuisance value” that could prove strategically useful in the coalition’s efforts to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Aisha Yesufu wrote on X: “Nasir El Rufai @elrufai has a nuisance value: his anger and vindictiveness, and you think I will not use that?
“Let me laugh in 3D!!!!!!
“You think Nation building is a romantic affair? I am okay with looking bad while you look good.”
