Akpabio predicts win against Obaseki in Edo 2024 race.

Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would secure victory over incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming governorship polls in Edo State. He made this declaration during the South-South Zonal meeting of the party held in Calabar on Sunday.

Akpabio asserted that he envisioned two APC governors from the South-South zone by the time of their next zonal meeting the following year. He emphasized the strategic importance of the South-South zone in national governance, noting its pivotal role after 45 years since the late Senator Joseph Wayas. Akpabio attributed his emergence as Senate President to the zone’s benefit and emphasized that with commitment, their goals could be achieved, including defeating Governor Obaseki in the forthcoming elections.
