Defection: Akwa Ibom state governor reveals plans to join APC
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State has hinted at a potential defection ahead of the general elections in 2027, describing his party (PDP) as a malfunctioning airplane. His remarks has stirred unrest and pleas from PDP loyalists, suggesting that the last word on the wave of defections plaguing the PDP may have been lost.

The governor said “Whether Ibom Air or Air Peace, board the flight ready to take you to your destination. Board the flight and forget the name of the airline. What Akwa Ibom people want is good governance, not the party’s name.”

The governor’s comments follows the recent wave of PDP defections, including the departure of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and his predecessor to the APC.

Governor Eno’s comments have stirred mixed reactions with both PDP and APC having conflicting opinions. The APC boldly stated that Gov Eno would soon join them, while the PDP urged the governor to stick with the party and defend democracy.
