The All Progressives Congress (APC), which is currently the ruling party in Oyo State, has gained hundreds of PDP members ahead of the elections in 2027.
The former PDP members from the local government areas of Egbeda and Ona Ara declared their defection during an APC meeting at Elekuro High School in Olorunsogo, Ibadan.

Kazeem Akinola, an APC candidate for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal seat, Yinka Folarin, Shina Adeagbo, Bola Fawole, and Alhaji Agbedo reportedly attended the gathering on Saturday.
On behalf of other party members, Akinola greeted and welcomed the defectors to the APC. He stated that Ona Ara should now produce a representative for the federal constituency.
He said, “I am excited to be with you today, you know where we are coming from, where we are and where we are going. On this project, I am happy with the turnout of the meeting. You know me as a party man over the years.
“You rally round me over the years, I appreciate it and I don’t take it for granted. It’s time for Ona-Ara LGA to produce the House of Representatives, Egbeda LGA has done it for 8 years uninterruptedly.”
Alhaji Prince Abdulwasiu Kolawole Ogundipe, the APC Chairman in Ona Ara LGA, thanked God for ensuring the safety and security of every party member. He defined the APC as a peace-focused, progressive party.
Ogundipe urged everyone in the party to foster love and harmony among themselves. He restated that President Bola Tinubu has received the support of the state party for a second term.
Similarly, Biliaminu Ogundele, a former chairman of the Ona-Ara Local Government, urged composure. He further emphasised that without the backing of others, no internal faction can win the election on its own.
