The current governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has expressed his admirable admiration for the former governor, Senator Orji Kalu, who serves in the Senate and represents the Abia North Senatorial District.

On Sunday night, June 8, 2025, Governor Alex Otti paid a courtesy visit and recognised the impressive records his predecessor, Orji Kalu, achieved in Aba and throughout Abia between 1999 and 2007.

Without holding back, Otti declared that he is developing Aba City and other areas of Abia State utilising Kalu’s blueprint.

“Government and Governance is a continuum, it can be broken but you must go back and recover it,” the Governor asserted. Alex Otti noted that Kalu did an excellent job in the State and he will borrow a leaf from.

Alex Otti further underlined how his mother was a strong supporter of Kalu during his time as governor, remembering how he built a network of standard roads throughout Aba and has continued to use the model set by Kalu.

“I can assure you that template is not wrong. You fix the place that generates the revenue, the revenue will come and you use it to fix other places,” Otti said.

Speaking, Kalu said he couldn’t play politics with Governor Otti and promised to pay him a visit whenever he was in the state. Kalu informed the Governor that if it weren’t for President Tinubu, who had earlier invited him to Lagos for a celebration honouring his two-year tenure, he would have been present for his second anniversary in office.
