Youths of Agulu community in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra state have issued a warning to politicians to desist from making abusive remarks against their former governor, Mr. Peter Obi, while campaigning in the area.
In a statement released in Awka on Wednesday, together with their chairman, Maduagwu Eric-Kenny, and secretary, Mr. Chamberlain Egoh, the youngsters denounced what they called “unfounded attacks” by desperate politicians vying for votes.

They expressed worries that some politicians who come to Agulu to get support end up making fun of Peter Obi even though they had benefited from his political backing and kindness in the past.
They contend that such conduct is not only offensive but also inappropriate.
“Peter Obi’s name commands respect not only in Nigerian politics but also on the global stage. We will never allow anyone, regardless of position or influence, to diminish his image,” the statement read.

“We therefore issue this unequivocal caution: any politician visiting Agulu for any purpose must refrain from making derogatory or disparaging remarks about our dear brother, Peter Obi,” they added.
They emphasised that “organised, peaceful, but resolute resistance” would be used to counter any future attempts to defame Peter Obi in the community.

As a symbol of pride and identity that is respected throughout Nigeria and beyond, the group stressed that the Agulu people would continue to treasure and defend Obi, just as other communities do with their political leaders.
