Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has deliberately halted his planned collection of the African Democratic Congress membership card, due to growing speculation that former President Goodluck Jonathan may join the 2027 presidential race and he is being wooed by the ADC.

Following protracted internal strife, Atiku recently resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party. He was supposed to retrieve his membership card to officially announce his defection to the ADC.

ADC representatives would deliver the membership card to Atiku in his hometown of Jada, which is located in Adamawa State’s Jada Local Government Area.

However, reports obtained revealed that the ceremony, which was slated for Wednesday, August 6, was postponed indefinitely without an official explanation from the former vice president’s camp.

This comes as an insider and chieftain of ADC anonymously told newsmen that the party had been holding private talks with Jonathan over a possible presidential run in 2027.
Speaking with newsmen, the Adamawa State ADC chapter chairman, Shehu Yohana, said Atiku’s formal reception into the party had been postponed without a new date.
