Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) has been involved in discussions regarding the June 12, 1993 presidential election and MKO Abiola.
According to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who said that the former head of state admitted that M.K.O. Abiola won the June 12, 1993, presidential election.
This was revealed by Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who, while he was reviewing Babangida’s book titled “A Journey in Service,” disclosed it to media men in Abuja.

The former head of state said that MKO Abiola won the 1993 election fair and square under the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He got all the required votes needed to mount the helms of affairs as president.
Babangida said, “There was no doubt in my mind; MKO Abiola won the election. He satisfied all the requirements.”
Furthermore, Osinbajo also emphasized his happiness that the former President Muhammadu Buhari also admitted MKO Abiola’s victory in the June 12 election and conferred on him the greatest national title of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic, GCFR, which is for presidents.
