The Benue paramount ruler, Tor Tiv James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, has alleged that some politicians want a state of emergency declared.
Tor Tiv alleged that some politicians are politicizing the crisis to pave the way for a state of emergency in Benue State.
He spoke during a stakeholders meeting with Tinubu in Makurdi, the state capital on Wednesday.
Tinubu is in Benue State following the killing of over 200 villagers by herders in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area of the state and other areas.
In the recent past, over 300 residents have been killed in various local governments in the state due to the crisis in the state.
However, the Tor Tiv said: “The second apprehension we have is the politicization of the crisis, politicians in the state are busy politicizing the crisis, passing blames instead of joining hands to address the crisis.
“We hear that there are some politicians who will even prefer that the crisis should worsen so that it will be a basis for the declaration of the state of emergency in Benue State.
“Your Excellency, this is unfortunate and any politician that prays for more people to die for such a project is against the wishes of the people of Benue State.
“Benue State has made a lot of sacrifices to keep this country United, many of our people died during the civil war, we paid the supreme price for this country to keep it United.
“Why should we be treated like this? What you have come to console is is just one in a series of several massacres in this state, what has Benue State done to merit what we are going through?
