President Bola Tinubu remains firm in his demand for the apprehension of the perpetrators responsible for the tragic loss of 17 officers and men of the Nigerian Army in Delta State on March 14, 2024. As grieving families pressed for justice during the burial ceremony of the fallen military personnel at the National Cemetery in Abuja on Wednesday, Tinubu emphasized the imperative for leaders in Delta State to identify and bring to justice the assailants who ambushed the soldiers during a peacekeeping mission in the Okuama community.

The late soldiers received honors in three categories: Member of the Order of Niger, Federal Republic Medal I, and Federal Republic Medal II. Additionally, the government pledged housing for the families of the fallen soldiers, scholarships for their children up to university level, and ensured the expedited payment of death benefits within 90 days.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, expressed profound dismay over the demoralizing loss of military personnel in Delta, emphasizing the tragic irony of being attacked by those they had sworn to protect.
Tinubu’s commitment to justice and support for the families of the fallen soldiers was reiterated as he commended the armed forces for their restraint and called for collaboration between authorities and community leaders to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further violence.
Despite the grief and loss, Tinubu emphasized the importance of honoring the soldiers’ memory by continuing the pursuit of peace and stability, stressing the nation’s obligation to safeguard the families of its fallen heroes.
