Call your minister to order- IYC issues warning to Tinubu

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has expressed deep concern over the escalating political crisis in Rivers State, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene immediately. In an interview, the IYC leadership voiced their frustration and disappointment with the ongoing crisis, blaming the actions of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike as the gensis of the crisis.

The IYC leaders emphasized that the lingering crisis in the state has created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among the residents. The group stressed that the situation is detrimental to Rivers people and urged the President to take quick action to restore peace and stability to Rivers State.

“As we speak now, there is tension everywhere, and the message should be clear to Mr. President,” one of the group leaders declared.

The group accused Wike of worsening the political instability in the state, which has resulted in widespread anxiety and fear. They appealed to the President to take immediate measures to address the crisis and prevent further chaos. According to the IYC, the ongoing political crisis has created a climate of fear, which is detrimental to the well-being and safety of the residents.

The group also criticized what they considered an attempt to sabotage the leadership of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

IYTC alleged that Wike’s influence in the state is causing conflict and disagreement, which is further compounding the crisis. The IYC urged the President to act decisively to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

During the interview, an IYC spokesperson said “Enough is enough. Rivers people deserve peace, and we will not sit back and watch our state descend into chaos,”

In addition, the IYC stressed that Rivers State should not be used as a arena for political power struggles and a show of power.

They called on traditional rulers, civil society groups, and other stakeholders to join voices against the existing political crisis and to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and decorum in the state.

The IYC stressed that only a firm and resolute measures by the President can prevent further crisis and ensure the well-being and safety of the Rivers people.
