Pastor Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, has ordered all of the commissioners and political appointees in his cabinet to either resign from their positions or defect with him to the All Progressives Congress(APC).

According to reports, the governor publicly affirmed his decision to defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC during a State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting on Thursday.

Sources who attended the meeting revealed that Governor Eno explicitly stated that none of his appointments should be surprised by his desertion, saying:

“Anybody who claims he is not aware of my intention to leave the PDP is still living in the 18th century,” he said.

He clarified that his desire to collaborate more closely with the Federal Government and his appreciation of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style were the driving forces for his choice to join the APC.

Declaring that he has “nothing to negotiate” with anyone who refuses to follow his political agenda, the governor sent a strong warning to his appointees.

“Apart from elected officials like House of Assembly members and Local Government Chairmen, I have nothing to negotiate with you,” Eno declared.

“Let me tell you, anybody who believes that when I leave the PDP he will use the party structure to fight me is lying, because I will still control the PDP structure.”

Further developments will be reported shortly.
