In a statement released on Monday titled “MISSION V ACCOMPLISHED,” Obi praised the team’s achievement as a powerful display of resilience, unity, and the unwavering spirit that defines Nigerian athletes.
“Congratulations, D’Tigress! You’ve once again proven yourselves as the undisputed queens of African basketball.
“Your victory is not just a win for Nigeria, but for the entire continent. To dominate this tournament five times in a row is no small feat, you’ve etched your names in history.” Obi stated.
He praised the players’ unwavering dedication and the energy they brought to every match, describing them as “fearless, fast, and unstoppable.”
“Thank you for pouring your hearts into every game and showing the world the strength of Nigerian excellence. Your effort, courage, and unity on the court were truly exceptional,” he added.
Obi also commended Head Coach Rena Wakama for her role in guiding the team to yet another historic milestone.
“To Coach Wakama, thank you for your vision, discipline, and championship mindset. You’ve led these amazing women with grace and determination,” Obi noted.
D’Tigress secured the title after a dominant performance against Mali in the final played at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on Sunday, August 3.
