Former Edo APC Lawmaker Defects Ahead of 2024.
Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje, a former APC lawmaker from Akoko-Edo II, has resigned from the party ahead of the September 21st governorship election. In a letter to his Ward 10 chairman, Agbaje cited alienation and sidelining within the party and his ward as reasons for his departure. Despite being a founding member, he expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of recognition for party loyalty. Agbaje was the only APC lawmaker who didn’t follow Governor Godwin Obaseki’s defection to the PDP in 2020 and was reportedly denied benefits apart from his salary since then. He also mentioned not being consulted in the APC’s governorship campaign planning.
