The Rivers State Governor, Fubara has cancelled a N134 billion contract awarded by the former sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ikot Ete Ibas (retd), for the reconstruction of the State Secretariat complex in Port Harcourt.
The State Executive Council meeting, which Governor Sim Fubara presided over on Thursday, made the decision.
The contract was awarded to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, CCECC, during the period of emergency rule under Ibas

Following the cancellation, the Council mandated that CCECC reimburse the N20 billion project mobilisation cost that had already been paid.

Similarly, the Council authorised the formation of a six-person committee led by Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu to evaluate and suggest appropriate sites for the building of Computer-Based Test centres throughout the state to facilitate external exams.
