Fubara on Assembly Quarters Visit
Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State recently clarified his visit to the residential quarters of the State House of Assembly, explaining that he was there to assess the condition of the structures for potential rehabilitation. He made this visit during a brief stop on his way to inspect a road project in Emohua – Abalama -Tema Junction.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of taking care of state government properties, including the assembly quarters. He mentioned that with the appointment of a new speaker for the State House of Assembly, he wanted to personally assess what improvements were needed to make the quarters more suitable for lawmakers.
Governor Fubara expressed his commitment to the well-being of the people, stating, “Is the Assembly quarters not part of my property? Is there anything wrong in going to check how things are going on there?” He reiterated his intention to ensure that necessary enhancements are made for the benefit of the people.
Regarding the road project inspection, Governor Fubara highlighted the importance of assessing the work done and what remained to be completed before the road could be commissioned during his one-year anniversary. He emphasized that despite the project being inherited from the previous administration, his government had significantly contributed to its completion.
Governor Fubara emphasized that governance should prioritize the welfare of the people. He noted the improvements in travel time resulting from road repairs, stating, “So, it is about the people, the good of the people, making life easy for the people. That is the way I see governance.” He stressed that his administration’s focus is on serving the people and improving their quality of life.
