Alex Otti, the governor of Abia, has made it clear that he has no intention of running for senate after his term is over.
He made the announcement on Saturday at a banquet hosted by the Aba branch of the Anambra Development Unions Association in his honor.
Alex Otti said “When I finish my eight years here, I will retire. I am not going to Abuja,” Otti said,” while urging critics to stop spreading false information.

He emphasized the need to give room for younger leaders, stressing the evolving political landscape and rising youth participation.
Alex Otti also added that “We are no longer that young. Society is changing, and the young ones are rising. It’s time we give them the opportunity,”
Additionally, the governor announced preparations to reexamine the 2011 civil service disengagement of 154 state employees, the majority of whom were teachers.

According to him, the State Head of Service will be instructed to look into the situation immediately in order to find a solution.
Governor Alex Otti highlighted to the possibility of contract reengagement for individuals under 65, particularly in light of the state’s teacher shortage.
He described unlawful the workers’ termination based on their state of origin as unfair and illegal.
Alex Otti reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to equity, inclusivity, and righting the wrongs of past administrations.
Meanwhile, Chief Obiora Nwakpadolo and Lawmaker Stephen Ucheonye both commended Otti’s leadership and progress in his development in separate statements.
They stated that the choice to host the reception in the governor’s honor was motivated by his performance.
