Iran claims four soldiers were killed by Israeli strikes on its territory.

According to Iran’s army, four Iranian troops have been killed by Israeli strikes on Iran in retribution for Iran’s missile launches earlier this month.
Early on Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have attacked missile factories and other locations in the vicinity of Tehran and western Iran.
Although Iran “recognises its responsibilities towards regional peace and security,” the Foreign Ministry of Iran stated that it has a duty to defend itself. This statement is seen as largely accommodative.
It had been anticipated for weeks that Israel would strike again after Iran launched around 200 ballistic missiles at Israel on October 1.

Iranian officials reported attacks on locations in the provinces of Ilam, Khuzestan, and Tehran. Despite “limited damage” in some areas, the military said the strikes had been successfully repelled.

Following the Israeli strikes, Iranian official television said that school and sports events were proceeding according to plan, and footage showed traffic moving regularly in a number of locations.
Shortly after reports of explosions in Iran, the Israeli military declared the operation on Saturday. According to IDF spokesman Rear Adm Daniel Hagari, the military has shown that it is ready “to defend the state of Israel”.
He also said that Israel would be “obliged to respond” if Iran initiated a new round of escalation.

Following the most recent strikes, the US and Britain have both urged Iran not to retaliate, with President Joe Biden’s administration demanding a stop to the cycle of violence.

Senior officials in the US administration claimed that Washington was not involved in Israel’s strikes and that the US was notified of them in advance.

According to an official, the attacks did not target Iranian nuclear or oil infrastructure, which the Biden administration had encouraged Israel not to destroy.

“Precisely what transpired” on Saturday night, the individual said, adding that the United States had urged Israel for weeks to respond in a “targeted and proportional with low risk of civilian harm” manner.
But according to a statement from the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel selected its targets “in accordance with its national interests, and not according to American dictates.”
In response to demands for Iran to refrain from reprisal, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer stated that Israel had the right to defend itself against “Iranian aggression” and that the UK would endeavor to “de-escalate the situation across the region.”

However, Russia and other regional nations, like as Saudi Arabia and Jordan, which are allies of the United States, charged Israel with intensifying the crisis.
Jordan called the attack a “dangerous escalation,” while Qatar voiced “deep concern about the serious repercussions that may result from this escalation.”
Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian foreign ministry, stated that “we must cease inciting Iran to retaliate and escape the uncontrollable escalation spiral.”

The missile strike on Israel by Iran

On Saturday morning, it was still unknown how many Israeli strikes had been carried out and exactly where they were targeted.
Flights were temporarily banned by Iran’s aviation authority, however they were reopened at 09:00 local time (06:30 BST).
“I was working in a factory in Tehran when I heard the explosions,” Hooman, 42, said news agency AFP.
He was cited by the agency as stating, “It was an echoing sound… terrible and horrifying,” “Now that there is war in the Middle East, we are afraid that we will be dragged into it.”
Syrian state television said Israeli airstrikes also hit locations in southern and central Syria.

The IDF said Hezbollah launched 80 rockets into Israel on Saturday afternoon across the border after the Israeli attacks.

The Iran-backed militia reportedly launched a series of rockets toward five residential areas in northern Israel, including the outskirts of Krayot near Haifa, according to the AFP news agency.
