This significant political realignment was confirmed during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

The development marks a major shift in the local political landscape, as key leaders, loyal members, and grassroots supporters of the Labour Party publicly pledged their full allegiance to the ADC.

The decision, according to party insiders, was reached after weeks of consultations and reflection on the current state of national affairs.

A communique issued after the meeting stated that the mass defection was a “bold and strategic decision” motivated by a shared determination to salvage Nigeria from the persistent hardship and failed governance under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal administration.

“The decision to collapse the Labour Party structure into the ADC in Ogbadibo LGA is a result of deep reflection and collective willpower. We believe the ADC offers a more people-oriented, transparent, and progressive political alternative,” a stakeholder said.

The meeting, which had in attendance former LP ward executives, youth leaders, women coordinators, and community mobilizers from across the local government, ended with a declaration of total loyalty to the African Democratic Congress moving forward.

Commenting on the development, Agada Onu, Director of New Media and Strategic Communication to Hon. Domfrank Ochigbo, confirmed the merger and emphasized its significance.

“This bold and strategic decision stems from the collective resolve to rescue Nigeria from the failed leadership and widespread hardship caused by the APC-led administration,” said Onu.

He added that the move from Labour Party is aimed at building a stronger political base that prioritizes the needs of the people and advances true democratic values at both local and national levels.
