Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s candidate for governor in 2023, claims that his management style will be very different from what Lagos state residents are used to under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
Rhodes-Vivour declared himself as a servant leader, stating he would lead Lagosians from the front and not from his office when he became the Governor of Lagos State.

The 42-year-old lawmaker pledged in an exclusive interview with Vanguard that his government will use public funds to better the lives of citizens rather than squandering them on fancy vehicles or jets.
“If things are difficult, I’m not going to use my money to be buying jets or buying many brand new cars. I will use my personal vehicle because I understand how difficult things are currently. I must use the resources we have to maximise the lives and cultural lives of other negotiations.”

Gbadebo further criticised the absence of transparency and accountability in government expenditure, highlighting the need for a procedure that allows citizens to observe how their money is being spent.
“If the government is saying that we do not have money, it should reflect in how the government spends his money. If the government is calling for transparency and accountability, he must also be transparent and accountable. You must have a process by which the negotiation the citizen, can easily see how money is being spent on line by line basis.”

He urged the Lagos State Government to follow China’s lead and engage in human capacity building in order to help millions of Lagosians escape poverty.
