Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has launched a scathing attack on the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing both the Bola Tinubu and Muhammadu Buhari governments of harming and betraying Nigerians.
Lamido, who drew extensively from his four decades in politics, warned that the nation was “sliding deeper into poverty and hopelessness” under the APC’s government while addressing the PDP’s extended caucus in Dutse.
“Since Buhari and now Tinubu, Nigerians are suffering. Poverty is everywhere, youths are jobless, and the economy is collapsing. They say they are fighting for Nigeria, but in reality, they only fight for themselves and their pockets,” he declared.

Lamido, whose political origins date back to the PRP’s 1979 battles, stated that Jigawa’s political legacy of honesty and selflessness must not be compromised. He reminded PDP supporters that justice, equity, and serving the people were the true goals of politics and that it was never intended to be about “insults or selfish ambition.”
The former governor presented the PDP as the only workable option that could bring back dignity, equity, and justice to Nigeria’s governance in the face of growing economic distress.

“I have been part of this struggle since the 1970s. I know what it means to fight for democracy and for the poor. Tinubu’s government, just like Buhari’s, has failed Nigerians. Instead of relief, there is corruption, hardship, and arrogance of power,” Lamido said.
Lamido expressed confidence despite his harsh remarks, stating that the PDP could once again guide Nigeria towards success if it remained united and disciplined.

“I believe in Jigawa, I believe in the PDP, and I believe we can reclaim our dignity. Let us not be deceived by empty promises. Let us remember our history and protect our future,” he charged.
