According to a report by TrackaNG, a civic accountability organization that empowers citizens to monitor and provide feedback on public projects, the contract was for the resurfacing and dressing of the Kogin Kasar Wase-Tofar Road. However, the project was abandoned, leaving large sections of the road impassable and raising serious concerns about the quality of execution.
The investigation revealed that despite the funds allocated in the 2024 federal budget, it was poorly implemented. Most parts of the road have already deteriorated, and several sections are now completely unusable, denying residents the benefits the project was meant to provide.
The civic group has now called on the federal government to compel the contractors to complete and remediate the it.
TrackaNG said, ”we calls on the Federal Ministry of Works, specifically its roads department @FedRoadsNGR, to release full details of the project and compel Sahar Continental Ltd to return to the site to correct the shoddy work,” the organization said in a post on its X handle.
“This incident highlights recurring issues with accountability in Nigeria’s public infrastructure projects, where contractors often deliver substandard work despite significant government spending.
”Citizens are demanding greater transparency and stricter oversight to prevent such failures from recurring,” it added.
