The US Embassy has revised and updated its visa requirements for Nigerians looking to travel to the United States.
In a statement posted on its X handle, the US Embassy has stated that from January 1, 2025, all Nigerian visa candidates will visit the consulate general in Lagos “twice” as part of the application process.
It said this new directive affects all visa candidates, including those with scheduled visa interviews on or after this date announced.
Furthermore, the embassy noted this new directive was to help immigrants with the processing and less delay in their visa applications.
On the embassy website, it states, “Your first visit to the U.S. Consulate in Lagos is for an in-person document review with a consular staff member to ensure you are prepared for your visa interview.”
“The visa interview will occur on the date and time scheduled for you by the National Visa Center (NVC).
“If you do not complete In-Person Document Review before your visa interview, you will be required to reschedule your appointment.”
The Embassy advises Nigerians to strictly adhere to these new directives and wishes them well in their future interviews.
