Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), has extended her condolences to Ghanaian President John Mahama following the tragic loss of key cabinet members in a helicopter crash.
The incident claimed the lives of the Minister of Defence, Edward Kofi Boamah, and the Minister of Environment, Science & Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad.
In addition to the two ministers, six other individuals were also aboard the helicopter, which went down in Ghana’s central Ashanti Region.
The Z9 helicopter was conveying the passengers from Accra to Obuasi for an event.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala wrote on X: “My deepest condolences to HE President John Dramani Mahama @JDMahama, the bereaved families and the people of Ghana for the tragic loss of the Hon. Min. of Defence Dr Edward Kofi Boamah and the Hon. Min. of Environment, Science and Technology Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad and six others in a terrible helicopter crash.
“May their souls rest in perfect peace.”
