The Federal Government Assures NYSC Corp Members will receive the new N77,000 allowance and its backlog of payments.
It looks like joy is coming for NYSC Corp members as the Federal Government has promised to pay the backlog of their new N77,000 allowance since it was approved in September 2024.

The backlog of payments will be paid to serving NYSC Corp members and to those who were serving when the N77,000 new allowance was approved by the federal government.
Ayodele Olawande, the Minister of Youth Development, in an interview on Channels television, disclosed that they have the details of NYSC Corp Members who will receive the backlog of payments.
Olawande said, “You saw the new DG saying that you will get it, and they’re asking him a question ‘What about those that are going out now, are they going to receive it [backlog]?”
“We have your details. The backlog, we will work on it and make sure it is paid. It may not be immediate but it will happen.”
The new N77,000 payment for NYSC Corp Members is in line with the increment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.
However, corp members have been waiting for the implementation of the new allowance since it was approved in September 2024 but all they have gotten is delays and excuses.
The Minister further added, “I’ve explained this several times. Some people said, I always say ‘It is a process. It is a process.’ But it’s seriously a process. It’s a government line.
“You cannot do a corner piece to do it. It was not in the budget when the president announced it, and for some agencies and parastatals, you need your salary to be in the budget before it is paid.
“Before anybody can approve anything, you must have a budgetary allocation for it. But the budgetary allocation has been done now. We are done with the process and it has been approved. It has been signed, and now they can start paying it.”
The new DG of NYSC, Olakunle Nafiu, also assured Corp Members that they should expect the implementation of the new payment of N77,000.
Earlier in March, Nafiu replaced the sacked Yushu’a Ahmed, who was sacked by President Bola Tinubu.
