The funeral services for Oba Adetona, the late Awujale of Ijebu land, have been announced by the Ogun State Government.
The burial is scheduled for today at precisely 4 p.m. at Ogbagba Court, Igbeba, Ijebu-ode, Ogun State.
Recall that the 91-year-old renowned monarch passed-on on Sunday, July 13, 2025 shortly after the announcement of his friend, Buhari’s demise.

Following this was an emergency meeting and a strong directive for all markets in Ijebu-Ode to remain shut-down today Monday July 14.
State citizens were advised to keep the families of the beloved monarch in their prayers in a statement issued by Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, Secretary to the State Government.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu paid tribute to the late Oba Adetona Awujale on Sunday, calling him one of Nigeria’s most admired traditional leaders who, for more than 65 years, served his people with honour and a strong sense of duty.

He claimed that under Oba Adetona’s leadership, Ijebuland and the country as a whole saw advancement and unification.
President Tinubu added that the king was a smart, honest leader whose contributions to administration and education will never be forgotten, as well as a voice of reason in times of crisis.
