Reuben Abati, a former presidential adviser, has encouraged Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, to show humility and offer an apology to Peter Obi.
Nigerians of various backgrounds have condemned the governor’s threat against Peter Obi, according to the reports, despite the fact that he has garnered some support from people like Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Okpebholo, however, stated publicly on Tuesday that he has no regrets for instructing Obi to always let him know when visiting the state.
According to Okpebholo, his order was merely counsel and not a threat.
He recalled how his police orderly, Inspector Akor Onu, died at the Benin Airport as a result of his disregard for a Commissioner of Police’s order during the government of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

However, well-known media figure Reuben Abati asserted that the governor lacked the authority to ask Peter Obi for authorisation.
“If Peter Obi decides tomorrow to take a second wife, will Okpebholo say he cannot come to Edo and take an Edo woman?” he queried.

“He should apologize for embarrassing Edo people,” Abati said.
