Alo Raymond, the district head of Manguna in the Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA), of Plateau state has stated that the gunmen who recently attacked and killed some locals in the towns were known faces.
Raymond made this statement at a peace conference that was recently held in Bokkos and hosted by Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Staff Army, COAS.

According to reports gathered by our correspondent, Hurti, Josho, Daffo, Manguna, and other nearby settlements in Plateau were attacked by gunmen on April 2.
Recall that there has been unrest in certain areas of Plateau state following the Bokkos killings and subsequent attacks in the state with residents asking the government to come to their aid.
The attack resulted in the deaths of over 50 locals, the destruction of over 300 homes, and the displacement of over 1,000 people.

Ten individuals were killed in the wake attack that occurred on March 27th, which also involved attacks on mourners.
The district director clarified that the gunmen broke into the neighborhoods during the day and wreaked havoc on the tranquil inhabitants.
Additionally, Raymond claimed that land acquisition was the reason behind the frequent attacks on the villages.
He said, “The attackers of our people are not faceless; they are people we know because they didn’t mask their faces while carrying out the criminal act.

“We have given their names to the security agencies and we believe necessary action will be taken,” he said.
The district leader emphasized that his people would not give up their land for outsiders to occupy, and he urged for the deployment of additional security forces to the communities.
