Police deny detaining #EndSARS protesters, fault Senator Sani’s claims.
The Nigeria Police Force has firmly denied Senator Shehu Sani’s claims that any #EndSARS protesters are still detained, calling his statements misleading. In a statement titled “Democracy Day: Police Clarifies, Refutes Senator Sani’s Misleading Claims. No Endsars Protester Still in Detention,” Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi clarified that all individuals arrested during the 2020 #EndSARS protest have been lawfully processed and none are unlawfully detained.
Specifically, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos pardoned about 100 suspects arrested during the protests. The police emphasized that the issues related to the protest have been thoroughly addressed, lessons have been learned, and the nation has moved forward from the events of the #EndSARS demonstrations.
