Python, crocodile and a lion cub have been evacuated from the home of Ahmed Idris, former Accountant General(ex-AGF) of the Federation, to Kano Zoo.
It was reported that the python had escaped from the ex-AGF’s residence, causing panic and fear in Daneji, Mandawari, Kabara and other nearby communities.
Sadik Kura Muhammad, the managing director of Kano Zoo, revealed that the wild animals have been evacuated during an interview with a Kano local radio station on Sunday.
Following the heightened fear, Ahmed Idris voluntarily turned over the animals to the zoo, verifying that the python, crocodile, and cub are now under the zoo’s care, according to the zoo’s MD.

He further clarified that the ex-AGF possesses a valid license that allows him to keep the animals, stressing that they had not reached a stage where they posed any danger.
He said, “There is a law called the Wild Animal Law, which permits individuals to keep certain wild animals in their homes. These may include endangered and non-endangered species.
“However, endangered species, those facing extinction, such as parrots and vultures, must only be kept in zoos to support their reproduction and survival, not for personal amusement.”
