Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, visited the Presidential Villa on Monday.
Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former Kano State governor, was seen at the Banquet Hall of the State House, where the PreCEFI event took place.
During the event, the former presidential candidate did not deliver any speech and refused to speak to State House correspondents after the event.
Speaking at the summit, the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, said over 400,000 hectares of Nigerian forest are lost annually.
Represented by Deputy Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Ibrahim Hadejia, Shettima warned that deforestation has its implications on Nigeria’s economy.
Shettima said, “More than 90 percent of Nigeria’s original forest cover has been depleted, and over 400,000 hectares lost annually,” saying the situation was not an environmental crisis, but an “economic emergency.”
