The Civil Society Organisations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI) has strongly urged politicians and other stakeholders to stop distracting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and rather cooperate to advance national unity.
The institution expressed serious worry over the increasing number of political assaults and critiques aimed at President Tinubu, in a statement signed by its director-general, Kunle Yusuff, characterising them as needless diversions that could jeopardise the government’s development initiatives.

While constructive criticism is vital in a democracy, Yusuff pointed out that self-serving and vicious attacks only serve to undermine public trust and undermine governance.
He urged “desperate and furious politicians” to focus on providing workable ideas that can help advance President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and improve the welfare of Nigerians.

“We call on all stakeholders to recommend practical suggestions that will assist the President’s vision and policies aimed at improving the lives of citizens. Politicians must focus on constructive engagement and support for government initiatives instead of spreading falsehoods and misinformation,” the statement read.
The group urged Nigerians to put the country’s interests ahead of their own and to refrain from actions that could cause conflict or division in the political system. Nation-building, according to CSCHEI, necessitates harmony, collaboration, and open communication between citizens, the government, and civil society.

Additionally, the agency advised community-based organisations and civil society to engage government institutions using fact-based approaches and to uphold integrity in their advocacy.
