The Take-it-back movement protest continues to gather momentum nationwide as youths have refused to relent and continue to press forward in their demands.
Protesters took to the streets to call for immediate government action on the deteriorating economic conditions, increased repression, and the purported abuse of the Cybercrime Act, Nigerian police on Monday used tear gas on nonviolent protesters in the Maitama area of Abuja.

According to reports gathered by NaijaEyes, the event, which was part of a statewide demonstration coordinated by the Take-It-Back Movement in partnership with several civil society organizations, took place at Eagle Square in coinciding with the National Police Day celebrations.
As part of the security plans for the official event, authorities had blocked access to the Three Arms Zone, where senior police officers were anticipated to attend the ceremony commemorating the Nigeria Police Force’s service.
Human rights advocate and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore was among the protesters holding signs that said, “Let Us Breathe” and “Stop the Repression.”
The protest aims to raise awareness of what the organizers described as an increasing trend of authoritarianism under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
Juwon Sanyaolu, the Take-It-Back Movement’s national coordinator and mobilization leader, outlined the main concerns driving the demonstration.
As of the time this report was filed, no arrests or injuries had been confirmed.
