Rescued School Principal Gets Brand-New Car From Oyo APC Guber Candidate

Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, has donated a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs Rachael Alamu, Principal of Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area, in recognition of her bravery and resilience following a kidnapping ordeal.

She was among the teachers and students kidnapped during the May raid on Community High School, Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in the Oriire Local Government Area.

During captivity, the kidnappers reportedly compelled the principal to appear in many video recordings intended to communicate with the outside world.

Alli presented the vehicle and praised Mrs Alamu for her extraordinary bravery, serenity, and dedication to the safety and well-being of the abducted students throughout the harrowing situation.

The senator described the donation as a simple effort to honour her courage and show sympathy with victims of insecurity.

The abducted students and instructors were eventually recovered after many weeks in captivity, bringing relief to their families, the Oriire community, and Oyo State as a whole.

Backstory…

The gift comes just days after the successful rescue of the principal of the Islamic High School in Oyo State and several pupils who were abducted by gunmen while travelling to a competition.

The kidnapping sparked widespread outrage across the country, triggering protests by parents, students and civil society groups who demanded swift action from the authorities.

During the weeks-long ordeal, the abductors released multiple videos showing the principal and other victims in captivity while repeatedly demanding ransom, heightening public anxiety over their safety. Throughout the crisis, the Oyo State Government and the Nigerian military repeatedly assured residents that security forces were intensifying rescue operations and urged families not to lose hope.

However, while many Nigerians praised the efforts of the security agencies, others questioned aspects of the operation after videos of the rescued principal surfaced online, fuelling speculation and conspiracy theories on social media.
