Rema Triumphantly Shatters Wizkid’s Record, Becomes Africa’s Longest-Charting Billboard Sensation

Nigerian singer Rema has made history with his debut album, Rave & Roses, which has become the longest-charting African album on the Billboard World Albums Chart, remaining on the chart for an impressive 170 weeks.

The album surpassed the previous record held by Wizkid’s Made In Lagos, which spent 164 weeks on the chart last year.

Other notable African projects that have enjoyed extended runs on the chart include Tems’s Born In The Wild (79 weeks), Burna Boy’s Love, Damini (63 weeks), and the legendary Fela Kuti’s The Best Of The Black President (45 weeks).

Meanwhile, Rema earned his second Billboard Hot 100 chart entry this week with ‘Secondhand’ with Don Toliver debuting at 29.

His compatriot, Tems also debuted on new song ‘What You Need’ on Hot 100 this week, bringing her total to seven, a joint African record with Burna Boy and South African group Seether.
