Police extends July 12 deadline for tinted glass permit enforcement

The Nigeria Police Force has announced its decision to extend the deadline for enforcing the tinted glass permit required for cars with tinted windows to October 2, 2025.

Following a surge in applications on the official portal, which indicated greater public compliance, Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun authorised the new date.

The Force said in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Monday that the delay will give them more time to thoroughly examine applications and make sure that only qualified and authorised people are issued tinted glass permits, in accordance with national security considerations.

According to the police, the action will also make it possible to further enhance the physical and digital verification procedures in order to preserve the integrity of the permit system and stop misuse.
