Painful loss for Samsung group as co-CEO Han Jong-Hee passes at 63

    Han-Jong-hee dies at 63
    Popular South Korean tech group Samsung, has just lost its co-CEO Han Jong-Hee. According to a spokesperson for Samsung , Han Jong-Hee , aged 63 died from a cardiac arrest on Tuesday.

    Han Jong-Hee was born in 1962 and has led Samsung’s consumer electronics and mobile divisions since 2022. He was promoted to vice chairman and co-CEO of Samsung Electronics in the same year, sharing leadership duties with Jun Young-Hyun, who oversees the company’s semiconductor operations.

    Following this tragic loss for the company, Samsung has paid tribute to the deceased acknowledging that Han Jong-Hee had committed 37 years of his life to growing and leading the Samsung business to become  a globally known brand despite the challenges.

    “Our deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the message said.

    This is coming only a week after chaired a meeting with investors, apologizing for the performance of Samsung stocks and also warning of a difficult year as a result of economic policies and uncertainties across major economies of the world, adding that  Samsung would seek “meaningful” mergers to drive its business growth.

    “There are some difficulties in doing semiconductor M&As due to regulatory issues and various national interests, but we’re determined to produce some tangible results this year,” he was quoted as saying.

    Han Jong-Lee reportedly joined the company in 1988 after completing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Inha University, Incheon, South Korea.
