Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate has once again lamented over the countries declining security condition.

Obi bemoaned the horrific murders of worshippers in Katsina state, calling them “devastating,” in a post on his official X account.

He stated that the attack was not only an assault on innocent worshippers but also a reflection of the declining value of human life in the country.

The former governor of Anambra state urged leaders to respect Nigerian lives, saying that they could not keep treating these incidents as routine data.

“The tragic news from Katsina has grown even more devastating, as the search continues with over 50 bodies now recovered.

“This horrendous act goes beyond an attack on innocent worshippers, it is another painful reminder of the worsening state of insecurity in our nation.

“I repeat that unless we urgently tackle the root causes of insecurity, we will continue to mourn needless losses,” he wrote.

The former governor of Anambra State bemoaned the fact that more and more Nigerian lives were being turned to statistics and urged decision-makers to put life and property safety first.

He cautioned that the country would continue to sustain avoidable losses unless the underlying reasons of insecurity were immediately addressed.

“My heartfelt condolences once again go to the grieving families, the people and government of Katsina, and all Nigerians who live in fear of such daily tragedies.

“May we find the courage to rebuild a nation where the security of lives and property is not a privilege, but a right guaranteed to every citizen,” Obi said.
