Setback for Ojezua as Ighodalo Stays in Edo Guber Race.
The Federal High Court in Abuja declined to disqualify Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Edo State governorship election. The court dismissed a suit brought by Anselm Ojezua, an aggrieved PDP aspirant, ruling that the suit was premature. Justice Obiora Egwuatu emphasized that Ojezua failed to exhaust the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanism before approaching the court. Ojezua had contested the validity of the primaries, alleging violations of electoral laws and party guidelines, seeking to nullify Ighodalo’s candidacy.
