Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has stated that President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Peter Obi share similar political ideologies and perspectives.
Shehu Sani made the remarks during an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, where he also claimed that Peter Obi’s support base is largely driven by ethnic affiliation.
According to him, a significant number of Obi’s supporters come from his ethnic group.
“The support for Peter Obi is largely ethnic, as many of those backing him are from his own background,” Shehu Sani said.
He further argued that an Obi presidency would not bring significant change to the country.

“If Peter Obi becomes President today, nothing much will change; things will largely remain the same,” he added.
Sani went on to assert that Obi, Obasanjo, Atiku, and Tinubu all operate from a similar ideological standpoint, saying they share common political beliefs.
“They all come from the same ideological background and subscribe to similar thinking. Tinubu will win the 2027 election,” he said.
Reflecting on past governance, Sani also criticised the response to insecurity during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, noting that there was silence in parts of the North despite widespread violence and kidnappings.
“When Buhari was in power, there was relative silence in the North even as killings and kidnappings were taking place,” he said.
He added that during his time in the Senate, his efforts to raise concerns about insecurity were often met with opposition from fellow Northern lawmakers.
“Whenever I spoke about the killings and abductions affecting my people, the first resistance I encountered came from Northern senators,” Shehu Sani stated.
