Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is fully committed to securing the release of schoolchildren and other citizens abducted across various parts of the country.
Shettima gave the assurance in Abuja on Friday after a special Jumma’a prayer at the National Mosque marking this year’s Democracy Day.
He said the administration would continue to intensify efforts to restore peace and strengthen national security.
“I want to assure Nigerians of President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in the nation.
“No matter how long the night is, it must give way to the light of dawn. Stormy as the weather may be, it will not rain forever. The government remains irrevocably committed to restoring peace and stability in the nation,” he said.
The Vice President’s remarks come amid renewed public concern over insecurity, following the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The incident led President Tinubu to approve the recruitment of additional security personnel.
Shettima urged Nigerians to continue praying for peace and stability in the country, adding that the Federal Government remains committed to addressing security challenges and protecting lives and property.
He also paid tribute to national heroes whose sacrifices, he said, laid the foundation for Nigeria’s current democratic system.
According to him, Nigerians should remain united and pray for one another, stressing that shared values and interests outweigh their differences.
