Sowore made the remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, while commenting on the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

It was reported that Nigerians, on Monday converged in Abuja for the “Occupy National Assembly” protest against the rejection of e-transmission of election results by the Senate.

Reacting, the Publisher of Sahara Reporters said, “Obviously we can’t trust them, even when these two positions are harmonized, which is what they said they would do.

“We still have to come through the fine prints of what is in the final law they are going to pass. What I suspect and I know is that they’re not worried about you. They don’t worry about the public.

“They don’t want a situation where the judges are hamstrung by a definitive word; ‘shall or must’. What we’re saying here is that the language of this Electoral Act mandatory for elections to be transmitted and wherever that is violated, must be able to provide credible evidence or excuse.

“And then the threshold to prove that this wasn’t done is not on the side of those who are rigging election, and that is exactly what they are trying to avoid.”
