Aston Villa joins the list of clubs to beat Guardiola’s Manchester City and compound their losing streak in the English Premier League.
Villa’s striker Jhon Duran got the home side to a flying start with a cool finish following a fine team move. Duran scored his seventh goal of the season for Aston Villa. Man City failed to equalize or make a meaningful impact in the first half.
Morgan Rogers made it 2-0 in the second half in the 65th minute. Villa held onto their 2-goal lead up until the 93rd minute, when Phil Foden crawled one back for City to score his first goal of the season.
Manchester City showed little motivation to change the course of the match. It looked like they were contained by Villa, who were happy to lose the ball possession to the visitors.
Aston Villa move up to 5th place, a point and position above Manchester City.
Will Manchester City recover from their slump in form? or is it downward further?
