A chieftain of the NNPP urges Tinubu to endorse a minimum wage of N200,000 for workers.

Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a prominent figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to endorse a minimum wage of N200,000 for workers, citing the inadequacy of the current wage to support them.

Oguntoyinbo conveyed this message in a statement issued to DAILY POST on Wednesday, as he extended his greetings to workers on the occasion of this year’s Workers Day. He emphasized the crucial importance of prioritizing workers’ welfare, calling upon state governors nationwide to do the same.

Highlighting the indispensable role of workers in national development, Oguntoyinbo stressed that without their substantial contribution, no nation could achieve its desired standards.

In his words, “As a supporter of labor, I join in your celebrations and wish for a peaceful and harmonious occasion. I also take this opportunity to once again urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to approve a minimum wage of N200,000 for our workforce. The prevailing circumstances have made it evident that the current minimum wage falls short of adequately sustaining the most vulnerable workers in our country.”
