Red Card Woes: Ronaldo Faces Two-Match Ban for Saudi Super Cup Elbow
Cristiano Ronaldo quest for his first Saudi Arabian trophy hit a snag after a red card in the Super Cup semi-final against Al-Hilal. The Portuguese forward was shown the red in the 86th minute for what the referee deemed “excessive force” against defender Ali Al-Bulaihi.
Ronaldo vehemently contested the decision, but replays showed an elbow connecting with Al-Bulaihi’s head. This resulted in a two-match suspension and a 20,000 riyal fine, as reported by TheNews.com.
The red card adds to his recent disciplinary woes. He previously served a one-match ban for an angry reaction to taunts aimed at his longtime rival, Lionel Messi.
This latest suspension means he will miss Al-Nassr’s upcoming league matches against Al Feiha and Al-Khaleej. However, the team and the iconic forward are focused on future challenges. Ronaldo will be eligible to return in time for the King Cup of Champions semi-final on May 1st.
With his sights set on leading Al-Nassr to silverware and further cementing his legendary status, Ronaldo will be eager to put this setback behind him and return to action stronger.
