Elon Musk’s SpaceX Dragon Capsule rescues NASA’s Astronauts stranded in space for nine months.
What looked like a journey back home for NASA’s astronauts after they were stranded in Space for nine months has come to life as they were rescued by Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
Janet Petro led the NASA administration live-streamed the whole event just two hours before departure.
According to reports, since June 2024, the two NASA astronauts, Sunita Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore, have been stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) after they went there for a scheduled one-week-long mission.
The SpaceX Dragon capsule undocked from the space station at 1.05 am ET (5.05 am GMT) and is expected to make a re-entry into earth, hitting somewhere off Florida. The journey from the ISS to their arrival point takes about 17 hours.
Alongside Sunita and Butch are also two astronauts from the ISS, Nicholas Hague and Aleksandr Gorbunov, who are American and Russian, respectively.
Just as the SpaceX Dragon capsule pulled out to begin its journey back to earth, Nasa’s Anne Mclain, called out from the ISS, “We’ll miss you, but have a great journey home.”
While Hague responded, “Crew Nine is going home,” Hague, the commander of the departing Crew Dragon, said from the spacecraft moments after they began their journey.
“On behalf of Crew Nine, it was a privilege to call space home… to live and work… in cooperation for the benefit of humanity.
“To our colleagues and dear friends who remain on the station, we know the station is in great hands. We’re excited to see what you guys are going to accomplish, and we’ll be waiting for you.”
Before this rescue mission, Elon Musk has alleged that the astronauts were abandoned by the Joe Biden administration.
