The governor specifically informed the President about the unsettling bandit activity in the state’s Alkaleri local government district, which calls for prompt attention.
However, amid widespread speculations of defection, Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi, has ruled out any plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House on Friday, Mohammed said conversations centered on governance and security collaboration.

The governor described speculation linking his visit to a possible switch from the PDP as baseless.
“I am a PDP man. I am not here for politics or defection. I am here for governance and partnership,” he said.
He suggested that Bauchi, Taraba, Plateau, and Gombe hold a combined security summit and emphasised the necessity for greater interstate collaboration in the fight against banditry.

In addition, Governor Bala Mohammed reaffirmed his long-standing support for state police, saying that despite their high cost, they would relieve pressure on federal forces and hold governors more responsible.
