General Christopher Musa, rtd, the former Chief of Defence Staff, has been sworn in as the new Defence minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
On Thursday, General Musa was sworn in at the State House in Abuja.

Remember that after a thorough five-hour examination, the Senate confirmed him as Minister of Defence on Wednesday.
During the session, the former CDS was thoroughly screened over recent security lapses, including the controversial withdrawal of troops from Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, shortly before schoolgirls were abducted on November 17.

General Musa promised lawmakers he would immediately set up a full-scale investigation into the troop withdrawal once he assumed duty.
Along with other attacks on senior military leaders, the new Defence Minister promised to look into the death of Brigade Commander Brig-Gen. Musa Uba in Borno State.

Following the resignation of former Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, reportedly due to health concerns, Musa was nominated.
